What it does

A compressor aimed at heavy squashing without obvious distortion. The control set is deliberately small: trim for input gain, a compression amount, a transients knob that restores attack the compression has flattened, treble and bass tilt, makeup gain, output and a wet mix for parallel work. A meter across the bottom shows transient movement and how much gain reduction is happening.

In the demo

Jade puts it on full mixes, on drums and on vocals in Logic Pro, running from gentle settings up to the mega compressor preset where the source is visibly crushed, then dialling the transients control back in. She works through the preset list, including vocal exciter and vocal evener on a breathy take.

Worth knowing

It is a character compressor rather than a precise one, with no ratio, attack or release to set. Anyone wanting per-parameter control will want a conventional compressor instead. Klevgrand sells a desktop version separately.
