What it does
An optical leveling amplifier modelled on the Teletronix LA-2A, with the hardware’s small control set: peak reduction, makeup gain, an output trim, a compress or limit switch and a dual mono or stereo mode. Attack sits around 10 ms and release stretches out over seconds depending on the material, so it levels slowly rather than grabbing transients. A VU meter shows gain reduction, and an external side chain can drive it.
In the demo
Jade sets it on a raw take of her own with wide dynamics, keeping makeup gain low so the level stays where it started, then swaps it for the compressor already on a guest vocal in Logic. A last pass runs it after HoRNet H76, a 1176-style unit.
Worth knowing
With no attack or release to dial, material needing fast transient control usually wants a FET-style compressor in front. A separate desktop version is sold on the Aurora DSP site.
