Pure Strings

What it does

A sampled string ensemble built around a morph pad. Staccato, trills, a string machine, tremolo, a synth layer, tape, harmonics and the plain ensemble sit around the pad, and dragging the dot blends up to three of them at once, with a pencil tool for moving them to positions that suit the part. An arpeggiator adds note divisions and up, down and played order patterns, and a separate tab holds EQ, reverb and delay that either follow the morph or unlock for hand editing, along with editable velocity curves.

In the demo

Jade plays each articulation on its own, then balances three at a time and shows how that replaces running two tracks for chords and stabs. Before any of it she demonstrates a bug where several instances duck each other in Logic, AUM and Cubasis, which freezing the tracks works around.

Worth knowing

The samples run to close to a gigabyte with no way to move them off the device, and Jade hits a crash mid demo. It runs on iPhone and iPad, with no Mac version.
