Overdrive Synth

What it does

A sample-based instrument, not a synthesis engine. Moby Pixel recorded synth tones at a studio through a rack of classic guitar pedals, so every patch already carries that overdrive. Controls stay minimal: attack, release, filter, delay, reverb and master, plus a dice button that pulls a random patch. The standalone adds a playing surface with octave, transpose, a long scale list and a guitar-style layout with adjustable strings and frets. The free download ships around ten instruments; the in-app purchase adds roughly a hundred.

In the demo

Jade runs five instances in AUM inside a track she built in fifteen minutes, then solos each one. She works through the preset banks, sets up a MIDI learn, and drives four instances from Zoa.

Worth knowing

The dirt is baked into the samples, so it cannot be dialled back, only added to. Being sample based it costs more DSP than a synth of similar size.
