NuRack

What it does

A rack where the effects are built rather than chosen. Over 80 audio and MIDI blocks cover EQ, compression, delay, reverb, modulation, distortion, pitch, vocoder and talkbox, wired in series or parallel across three buses. An interface builder sits behind it all: split a rack into its parts, resize them, add modules, recolor the knobs and paste in your own images.

In the demo

Jade starts from the graphic EQ preset, pulls it apart, stacks a vocal doubler and a reverb onto it, and skins the whole thing with a photo of Patrick Baird’s face. She then works through the module categories, playing the pitch shifter, bit crusher, distortion and multi-band compressor.

Worth knowing

The presets give working effects straight away, but the depth is in building, and Jade calls it overwhelming enough that she put the show off for ages. Anyone after one finished reverb will find a lot of workshop around it.
