MIDI Strummer

What it does

Builds strummed and arpeggiated chord parts and plays them through its own sounds. A row of chord slots holds the progression, each showing the fretboard fingering and offering a long list of chord types, and above it the strum pattern is a grid of dots that can be moved, removed, shortened or regenerated. Sounds come from SF2 wavetable banks covering guitars, pianos, organs, basses and oddments. Built in are EQ, tube overdrive, distortion, tremolo, tap delay and reverb, alongside arp speed, strum speed, octave, velocity curves, palm muting and a humanizer.

In the demo

Jade runs it as an AUv3 inside GarageBand, builds a C to G to F progression, flicks through arp variations and instrument sounds, adds palm muting under distortion, then host syncs it and records the result as editable MIDI notes on a GarageBand track.

Worth knowing

The store titles it MIDI Strummer AUv3 Plugin and Jade’s video calls it MIDI StrummerFX. Despite that title, this generates parts rather than tracking a played guitar, so anyone after guitar-to-MIDI conversion wants Jam Origin’s MIDI Guitar instead.
