What it does
A recreation of the Carlsbro Mantis, a 1970s bucket-brigade echo. The echo section has four taps and four swell selectors, plus a tone control, a dark factor low cut, switchable noise with an optional envelope, and mono or stereo output. A Vintage and Modern switch is the twist: Vintage caps the base delay at 51.2 ms as the hardware did, Modern stretches it to a thousand and adds host sync. The Rotafaze section modulates the delay line for tape wow or a chorus delay.
In the demo
Jade strips back to a single GarageBand piano so each control is audible on its own, then moves to bells, runs the factory presets on a glockenspiel, and finishes on a Loop Mix beat.
Worth knowing
Short base delay settings turn metallic and ringing quickly, and Jade switches on the soft clip before pushing the swells. AudioThing sells a separate desktop version for Mac and PC.
