Launchpad - Music & Beat Maker

What it does

A grid of pads that launch loops and one shots across eight tracks, built for remixing electronic music by combining beats, basslines, melodies and vocal parts. Sound packs download from an in-app library sorted by genre. Each pad is set to loop, fire once, or re-trigger, and effects rows underneath can be limited to chosen tracks.

In the demo

Jade plays it on an iPad with a Launchpad X plugged in, whose pads light up to match the colours on screen, then repeats the same moves by touch alone. She imports her own wave files, tagging each as drums or melodic and setting its tempo, and records a performance out as an audio file.

Worth knowing

The download is free and the ceiling is what you unlock: importing audio, editing the effects rather than using their presets, and the wider pack library all sit behind purchases or a subscription. The listing now reads Launchpad - Music & Beat Maker under Focusrite, where the demo calls it Launchpad DJ from Ampify Music. Anyone arranging a full track will still export into a DAW.
