King of Bass

What it does

A monophonic bass instrument with two layers. Each layer takes either a sampled analog bass or sub 808, or a synth oscillator with sine, triangle, square, saw and pulse width, and carries its own tune, pan, level and ADSR that can be linked across both. Around them sit a Kick It page that turns any sound into a tuned kick, a resonator, heat distortion, a lo-fi crusher down to two bit, two assignable LFOs, chorus, delay, a limiter and a step sequencer written by Cem Olcay.

In the demo

Jade runs seven instances in AUM, then builds up from a basic patch, sending LFOs to the drop time, cutoff and resonator before stacking a synth oscillator against a sub. She closes in standalone mode, recording a kick and exporting it to AudioShare as a sample.

Worth knowing

It is mono and aimed squarely at bass, kicks and 808s; Jade says outright that snares and hats are not what it is for. The preset list is long, with banks from several guest sound designers, but all of it is low end.
