KA Mini SuoNa

What it does

A sampled SuoNa, the loud double reed horn, in a standalone and AUv3 app of its own. It is the brightest and most piercing instrument in the range, the snake charmer sound, and it climbs to the top of the keyboard. It plays one note at a time. Volume, a tone tilt, reverb and pitch bend depth make up the panel, with a keyboard or electronic wind instrument switch above them.

In the demo

Jade runs it up to the highest note on the keyboard, then uses the tone control to take the edge off the top, which is the practical way to make it sit in a mix without tiring the ear.

Worth knowing

The tone control does a lot of work here given how forward the sound is, and anyone after a soft background wind line will want one of the flutes instead. Like the rest of the family it opens on wind instrument input, and there is no vibrato control. Sold separately, or in the App Store bundle with the other eight.
