Grand Piano AUv3 2

What it does

A sampled grand piano that loads as an AUv3 instrument and plays from an on-screen keyboard or external MIDI. Alongside the piano sit controls most piano apps leave out: an ADSR envelope, tremolo, stereo widener, auto-pan, tuning, filter, chorus and reverb, each on its own knob with a double tap to reset. It is the second of this developer’s piano apps, built on new sounds rather than the first one’s.

In the demo

Jade plays it from the screen and from a controller, then works through the effects one at a time, pushing the reverb and chorus until it stops sounding like a piano at all. She drives it from a random pattern generator, drops it into one of her own GarageBand songs in place of the stock piano, and finally sets it beside Pure Piano.

Worth knowing

The sample set makes for a large download. Anyone after a plain, dry concert grand will leave most of the panel switched off.
