Fuego

What it does

A sample-based instrument aimed at salsa, reggaeton, bachata and other Latin styles, with around 200 sounds spanning accordions, brass, guitars, keys, strings, synths and wind, plus 200 MIDI phrases. Controls match Cheap Keys from the same developer one for one: voice gain and tuning, amp envelope, filter with its own envelope and velocity, an LFO offering vibrato, tremolo and wobble, reverb, a synced delay, and poly, mono and legato modes.

In the demo

Jade opens with a short piece built in AUM from two instances of Fuego and two of Cheap Keys, then browses accordions, brass with falls and rises, guitars, electric pianos, organs, bowed and pizzicato strings, and winds, using the mod wheel and the velocity dial to shape them.

Worth knowing

It is iPad only. As on Cheap Keys, the MIDI phrases cannot yet be dragged into a host. Desktop versions in AU, VST and AAX come from the Sonic Nomad site.
