Filterjam

What it does

A multi-band resonant filter that splits the input into four bands and then recombines them, either adding or multiplying. Four mode buttons set which combination is used, and multiplying is where the ring modulator character comes from. An emphasis control decides how strongly the split is applied, one frequency control sweeps the whole set across the spectrum, with gain and mix beside it. A limiter at the output can be switched off, oversampling goes up to eight, and every parameter is exposed for modulation from the host. Presets save into a user bank alongside the factory ones, and a randomize button rolls new settings.

In the demo

Jade sweeps the frequency by hand over a sustained synth part so the bands ring out one at a time, then steps through the modes and the factory presets. She wires an external LFO to a frequency parameter in AUM and lets it move on its own, then puts it on a drum loop and leans on the randomizer.

Worth knowing

Results are unpredictable by design, closer to a sound design tool than a corrective filter. AudioThing also has desktop versions.
