FAC Drumkit

What it does

A drum instrument with 16 pads, where each pad holds two layers, a sample and a two oscillator synth, and either layer can be switched off on its own. The sample layer has high and low pass filters with their own Q, and the synth layer has per oscillator level and panning plus a phase control between the two. Envelope pages cover sample pitch, sample shape, combined synth pitch and each oscillator separately, with points added, dragged and deleted by hand. Pads take imported samples, loaded as single files or a whole folder, and a kit saves with its envelopes into the bank. There are no built-in effects.

In the demo

Jade starts in GarageBand, then builds an acoustic kit from scratch by importing toms, crashes and a ride into empty pads and reshaping each envelope so the hits have body, and finishes in Cubasis splitting the kit out over separate tracks with the multi out button.

Worth knowing

Sounds cannot be saved individually, only as part of a kit. Multi out depends on the host supporting it, and in Cubasis the original track has to be pulled down or everything doubles.
