Dawnbeat

What it does

A standalone pad sampler with 32 pads across two banks and a pattern sequencer with a piano roll. Pads are multi-touch and draggable, so holding and dragging retriggers a sound, and each one carries waveform editing, fades, reverse, time stretch, downsampling, tuning and filters. Built-in effects sit in swappable slots, AUv3 effects load inside the app, and four buses feed a mixer. A memorizer keeps everything played, ready to pull back into the sequencer.

In the demo

Jade goes menu by menu, editing a kick’s tail, stretching and detuning pads, then recording a sequence and tidying it in the piano roll. She hosts Blackhole inside the app, renders the song to a file and drops it back onto a pad, and is open that the instructions are thin and that parts of it are new to her.

Worth knowing

There is no AUv3 version, so it will not open in AUM or a DAW, though it syncs over Ableton Link. The browser reads one folder at a time and cannot reach Audio Share. A one-time in-app purchase adds two more kits and extra effects and removes the watermark from video exports.
