WoodSynth

What it does

Four independent polyphonic synths inside one app, each with up to sixteen voices and three oscillators, each assignable to a slice of the keyboard so all four play from one controller. Per synth there are amp and pitch envelopes, polyphonic glide, a filter with Moog style types, two assignable LFOs, an arpeggiator, a sixteen step sequencer and a delay with reverb. Oscillator slots also load or record samples. Controls sit in panels along the bottom edge, two open at once and colour coded to the synth being edited.

In the demo

Jade builds one synth from scratch on an Arturia KeyStep 37, stacking three oscillators, opening the pitch envelope for polyphonic glide and pushing the filter resonance. She then works through factory presets and pulls each apart to show which of the four synths are running. AUM reports DSP at ten percent while they play.

Worth knowing

The panel layout rewards reading the colour codes, since changing one panel moves the others to the same synth. Jade says it runs on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad but not on an M1 Mac.
