VIRAL Synth 2: T2x

What it does

A two-layer digital synth for iPhone and iPad, standalone and AUv3, influenced by the Access Virus TI series rather than modelled on it. Each layer takes a waveform, sine, triangle, square, saw or pulse, or a sample from the T2X and XL banks, with level, tuning, fine tune, pan and its own unison voices. Around that sit three LFOs with two destinations each, a filter with resonator and mod envelope, drive, lo-fi bit reduction, phaser, chorus, tremolo, ring modulation, FM drop, delay, two reverbs, an arpeggiator, a step sequencer and a trance gate. More than 500 presets ship with it.

In the demo

Jade opens with four instances in AUM under sparse guitar parts, then goes panel by panel from a user patch, running the trance gate and the sequencer at the same time on different rates, before playing through the designer banks.

Worth knowing

There are no in-app purchases. Presets carry notes from their designers about how a patch expects to be played, and banks import and export as files, so packs move between devices.
