Tera Pro

What it does

A modular synth that gathers most synthesis methods into one instrument: analogue-style, FM, waveshaping, wavetable, additive and physical modelling, patched by routing rather than cables, with per-module oscilloscopes. BrainZ, the module here, is modelled on a Eurorack macro-oscillator and packs 16 engines behind harmonics, timbre and morph, from detuned waveforms and granular clouds to vowel synthesis, modal resonators and drum models.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM with a sequencer holding a note, strips the patch back to BrainZ alone, then steps through all 16 engines so each is audible. She assigns an LFO to harmonics and layers a second oscillator.

Worth knowing

Modules are separate in-app purchases bought inside the standalone app. RingZ models string, plate and percussion resonators. FM 7 is a DX7-style engine that loads voices from ROM cartridges and imports DX7 banks. Waveshaper adds shapes and FM curves with its own preset library. Wavetables adds an oscillator with a nested menu tree of tables, plus table position, pitch tracking, oscillator sync, FM ratio, phase offset, anti-aliasing and a randomising dice. It is iPad and M1 Mac only, one purchase covering both. Anyone wanting quick presets may prefer TeraVerse.
