TATAT

What it does

A MIDI effect that generates a stream of notes rather than a fixed pattern. Note slots each carry a chance percentage, and quarter, eighth and sixteenth divisions carry their own, so what plays is a weighted roll rather than a sequence. A bi-chords section adds a fifth or seventh by chance, velocity has a plus and minus range, a less knob strips notes back out at random, and a delay control pushes notes off the grid into a swing.

In the demo

Jade zeroes everything and rebuilds one note at a time so each chance control can be heard on its own. She works the less knob and delay until the stream loosens, slides from live into memory so the last four beats loop while live notes still slip through, then finds the right notes for a drum kit and runs it as a MIDI effect in Logic.

Worth knowing

It sends MIDI only and never repeats itself exactly, so anyone after a pattern they can edit note by note is in the wrong app. Values are set by dragging, with typed entry only on the first note slot.
