SynthMaster 3 Player

What it does

A preset player for KV331’s SynthMaster engine, running standalone or as an AUv3. The free download carries 200 presets, with 300 more added once you register a free account on the developer’s site, and further banks sold in the in-app shop, including sounds carried over from SynthMaster 1 and 2. A patch stacks up to 16 layers, each with its own arpeggiator, step sequencer, keyboard zone and six insert effects, over two send buses, a modulation matrix, macros and XY pads.

In the demo

Jade signs in, sorts out the account merge that restores previously bought packs, then works the browser by product, author, attribute and style. She builds a patch by auditioning sounds and stacking them on new layers, edits an arpeggiator’s notes, draws in a sequence, and closes with a long run through the SynthMaster 3 sounds by category.

Worth knowing

Editing is limited to what the player exposes, so patches cannot be built from the oscillators up. The app crashed once while adding a layer during the demo and dropped the unsaved patch.
