What it does
An emulation of the JEN SX1000, a vintage Italian monosynth, with a single oscillator offering triangle, sawtooth and pulse waves, pulse width modulation, a sub oscillator, white and pink noise, a resonant filter with its own envelope, and an LFO that can run free or lock to tempo. AudioThing adds a polyphonic mode the original never had, key priority settings, glide and legato, an arpeggiator, and four effects: tape echo, wave folder, flanger and spring reverb.
In the demo
Jade opens with three instances running together in a track, then resets to an init patch and works the oscillator, filter and sub from the bottom up. She runs the dice with parameters locked, spends time on the arpeggiator with hold and chord, and closes on the factory bass, key and lead banks.
Worth knowing
It is a small, chirpy, one oscillator design, closer to chiptune and acid than to a broad workhorse synth. A separate desktop version is sold from AudioThing’s own site.
