Steel Guitar PRO

What it does

A modelled steel guitar played from the screen or over MIDI. The playing area unlocks so string spacing and fret width can be reshaped to the hand, and notes can be slid or simply tapped. Models run from lap steels through humbucker and single coil electrics to an acoustic twelve string, an eight string and ten string Nashville and Texas variants. Tunings cover standard, open G, open E and DADGAD, with per string editing and an adjustable reference pitch. Behind that sit a rack of amps, cabs and pedals, and pages for note shaping, sustain, damping, release, glide, bend gestures, a left handed layout and MIDI learn.

In the demo

Jade plays it by hand, then hands the part to MIDI Strummer and Scaler 2 so the chords and strumming arrive over MIDI. She runs through reverbs, delays, fuzz and chorus, and records a slide performance in GarageBand.

Worth knowing

The rack only processes this app, so its pedals cannot be reused on other tracks. The earlier Steel Guitar by the same developer is a separate app and is not an AUv3.
