RRS Ivoks

What it does

A two-oscillator synth, monophonic with a duophonic switch, modelled on a Soviet analogue instrument from the 1980s. Each oscillator has waveform and octave selection, its own modulation amount and detune, and oscillator one can modulate oscillator two. A mixer adds noise and a saturator, and the LFO at the top runs in four modes and reaches most of the panel. Glide, legato, global tune, a looping envelope mode and a folder of presets round it out.

In the demo

Jade plays it from an Arturia keyboard in AUM, working left to right through the panel with everything else stripped back, so the cross modulation, detune and filter sweep are each audible on their own. She then runs the preset folders with reverb added.

Worth knowing

It downloads free but stops after five minutes per load until unlocked, and it is a mono and duophonic instrument, so it is not a pad or chord synth. The filter is also sold on its own as a separate AUv3.
