Ripplemaker

What it does

A modular synth laid out as a miniature patch panel, with oscillators, a slope generator, a low pass gate, envelopes and a delay, plus holes for running virtual cables between them. Cables dropped somewhere that makes no sense simply do nothing, so experimenting costs nothing. The standalone app adds a step sequencer, adjustable up to 64 steps, with preset patterns, scale and key randomizing, mutate, variation and semitone rotation.

In the demo

Jade works down the factory patch banks from an Arturia Keystep, dragging cables to new holes to hear what each move does, then runs the sequencer and plays over the top of it. She finishes in AUM with three instances driven by Rozeta and Particles, with BeatCutter and Altezza across them.

Worth knowing

The sequencer belongs to the standalone app, so loading it as an AUv3 leaves the patch bay and presets and a host sequencer has to supply the notes. Levels jump around between patches, and Jade could not find a panic or kill switch.
