Riffer

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI sequencer that generates patterns rather than making sound. Four lanes run side by side, each with its own key, scale, note range, step count and resolution, and each sending on its own MIDI channel so four instruments can be driven at once. Notes can be drawn into the piano roll by hand or thrown out by the dice, and rows for pitch, duration, velocity and density randomise independently. Density adds ratchets.

In the demo

Jade starts with one lane into iSymphonic in AUM, then opens a saved project and rewires it so the four lanes feed iSymphonic, SynthMaster 2, Waverley Tables and a SampleTank acoustic guitar on separate channels. She locks whole rows and individual notes so the dice only moves what she wants, works density into ratchets on the guitar, and saves a sequence out as a MIDI file.

Worth knowing

Scales come from a fixed list with no custom option, and GarageBand cannot host it, so it needs AUM, Cubasis, NanoStudio 2 or something similar around it.
