RhythmBud

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI effect that sits between a MIDI source and an instrument and turns the chords passing through into a rhythm. A timeline is filled with parts whose lengths come from note values, down to 64ths and including dotted notes, triplets and quintuplets. Each part then gets its own treatment: the rhythm as it stands, an arpeggio running up, down, up and down or at random, high first or low first so one note alternates against the chord, or a strum with a slider that pulls the timing off the grid. Velocity, ratchets and transposition are set per part.

In the demo

Jade links three instances to a single ChordBud 2, giving a bass arpeggios, a piano a loosened strum and a guitar a plainer one, all off the same progression. She shows ratcheting turning one stroke into three.

Worth knowing

It generates nothing on its own and needs chords arriving from somewhere, which here is ChordBud 2, a separate purchase covered in the same video. Anyone feeding it single notes will get little from the chord based modes.
