PolyPipe

What it does

A MIDI sequencer and arpeggiator with four independent lanes, each holding four patterns of up to 32 steps and each feeding its own MIDI output. Notes you play are the seed, and every step carries pitch offset, velocity, gate length, ratchets, ties and probability. Lanes can run at different step counts and speeds for polyrhythms, with a master reset that resyncs them after a set number of beats. Per-lane modes cover directions, chord playback, bass note only, custom chords and mixed chords and notes, all constrained by a scale, with strumming and keyboard splits on top.

In the demo

Jade builds up from an empty preset in AUM, driving Pianoteq, King of Bass, Osiria and SynthMaster from separate lanes, and spends most of the demo on the randomization panel, reweighting individual notes live while a pattern runs.

Worth knowing

It generates no sound, so it needs a host and instruments, and nothing plays until MIDI arrives from a keyboard or the latch is on. It ships with a single demo preset, so the patterns are yours to build. Jade calls it a lot to take in.
