What it does
An emulation of the Oberheim OB-X that keeps the original layout: oscillators, a filter, envelopes, an LFO with pulse width, and voice variation for micro detuning. It carries no effects of its own, so reverb and delay have to come from elsewhere in the chain. Presets are the bulk of it, arranged in 20 banks on top of the main list.
In the demo
Jade plays presets from an Arturia KeyStep rather than building patches, working bank by bank and stopping on the sounds she likes. Because the synth is dry she keeps stacking reverb from other apps, Black Hole, Crystals and the developer’s own Schroeder, and plays patches with and without them. She closes inside a NanoStudio project where a viewer used it in a released song.
Worth knowing
This is a preset tour rather than a control by control walkthrough, so the panel gets very little time. The listing now reads OB-Xd AUv3 Synth from DiscoDSP, while the video description credits Jorge Reales.
