What it does

A MIDI step sequencer that generates notes and makes no sound itself. A pattern holds 16 lanes, each with its own step count, step size, octave, output and MIDI channel, and there are 64 patterns across eight banks plus 32 clips. Steps carry probability, velocity, gate, duration, delay and skip, with randomize and humanize per lane. Eight outputs feed eight instruments, lanes fall into resizable mute groups, clip mode chains patterns with a bar length each, and ten sliders send CC to anything you assign them to.

In the demo

Jade drives a piano, drums and a bass from one instance in AUM, drawing steps in and dragging whole lanes while it plays. She adds a step to one lane so it runs against the others until they meet again, uses preview to find a drum app’s note mapping, then chains clips and assigns a slider to a synth’s reverb size.

Worth knowing

Being a MIDI processor, it will not load in GarageBand on iOS and always needs an instrument downstream. Four editor screens deep, it is a lot to take on as a first sequencer.
