miniBit

What it does

A chiptune synthesizer modelled on 1980s consoles and home computers. A main oscillator carries 18 non-bandlimited waveforms plus eight user slots you draw by hand, backed by a square sub oscillator at zero, one or two octaves down. There are volume and pitch envelopes, a filter, delay, bitcrusher with downsampling, an assignable LFO, and an eight-step sequencer with lanes for pitch, volume, cutoff, resonance and waveform.

In the demo

Jade opens with an eleven-track adventure-game piece made only from miniBit, then rebuilds a patch from an init sound in AUM. She draws custom oscillators, detunes the sub against the main for chorusing, pushes the crusher until the tone breaks up, and sequences waveform changes step by step.

Worth knowing

The aliasing is deliberate, so this is a character synth rather than a clean one, and there is no factory init patch until you save your own. Also on desktop through AudioThing.
