MIDI Layers

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI plugin that divides a master keyboard into layers, each a block with its own key range, output port, MIDI channel, velocity curve and crossfade into its neighbours. A remap setting transposes a block, so a short controller reaches octaves it does not have. Sixteen output ports and sixteen MIDI channels feed instruments loaded in the host. Twelve scenes store whole layouts and copy between one another, and a layer can instead be a scene selector, a mute group switch or a CC controller played from the keys. Program changes address a bank and program in the target app.

In the demo

Jade builds a three way split in AUM across two synths and a piano, then overlaps them in a second scene and crossfades between them. She sets up mute groups, drives scene changes from the keys, and opens the scene layout presets, touchpad, mod wheel and MIDI debug windows.

Worth knowing

It routes MIDI only and needs a host that lets one plugin drive others, so GarageBand cannot use it that way. White keys can be locked to a mode, which changes what any split plays.
