Magellan Synthesizer 2

What it does

A three-oscillator synth with filters, an FM section, amp, two LFOs, envelopes, an X/Y pad, an arpeggiator and chord section, a built-in sequencer, effects, a recorder and MPE support. Panel sections are reached either from a row of buttons or by scrolling the whole page. Factory presets are grouped as bass, leads, pads, arp, keys, instruments, percussion, sound effects and oddities, with a strip under the keyboard showing whether a preset is poly, arped or legato. Further banks are in-app purchases, including Sounds of Horror one and two at 63 presets each, 1970s and Totally 80s at 60 each, and Mag Classics.

In the demo

Jade plays it standalone from an Arturia KeyStep 37, running the factory banks before moving to the horror packs in AUM with FAC Alteza on top. She also loads a free third-party sci-fi pack of 23 sounds.

Worth knowing

The panel is dense and the demo stays on presets rather than patch building. Expansion packs sit behind separate purchases.
