jAmp Acoustic

What it does

Turns an electric guitar into a simulated acoustic using around 40 body impulse responses, covering rosewood and mahogany dreadnoughts, orchestra and grand auditorium bodies, parlor, classical, mandolin and a resonator. A preamp, noise gate, reverb and pre EQ sit in the chain, and four voicing controls, fullness, body, presence and air, shape the result. Presets ship with it and user presets save into their own bank.

In the demo

Jade plays four electric guitar tracks in Logic with the plugin bypassed and then engaged, then rebuilds her usual live acoustic chain around it and performs with an electric through the whole thing, including palm mutes on the neck pickup.

Worth knowing

There is no manual, so the controls are learned by ear. The free download mutes for a second every few minutes until the in-app unlock, and the developer’s earlier free plugins are covered in the Jan Maes Free Collection entry.
