Helium

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI sequencer written for AUM, with 16 tracks per instance, each on its own piano roll. It holds a library of chord and progression clips, a velocity lane that switches to pitch bend, aftertouch and CC, quantise, and loop snapshots that fire from keyboard notes or a song mode timeline. A later update added a chord track under each roll, whose blocks carry root, chord type, inversion and slash note and go out as Tone Packets, a SysEx scheme from David Collett and Gregory Riker packing up to 24 notes into eight bytes, so a receiver gets a named chord instead of recognising one.

In the demo

Jade loads it in AUM as a MIDI processor, routes a piano to one track by channel and port, drags a progression clip in, triggers loop snapshots from keys, then builds an arrangement in song mode.

Worth knowing

The clip library has to be imported by hand, since pushing it in an update would overwrite clips you saved. Tone Packets reach only apps that read them, and chord blocks send plain MIDI to everything else. The store lists it as Helium AUv3 MIDI Sequencer.
