Harmonicer

What it does

A MIDI generator that makes no sound of its own. A quantizer holds the incoming note to a chosen scale, then intervals stacked on either side of the root add thirds, fifths, octaves and more, so a single key returns a chord. Each of those voices has its own arpeggiator with mode, gate, octave range, repeats and variation, and each can be sent to its own MIDI output. About 20 scales ship with it, and custom scales can be entered by hand. A built-in recorder captures a progression for hands-free playback.

In the demo

Jade drives a piano from the on-screen keyboard first, turning arpeggiators on voice by voice. She then feeds it chords from Scaler, and later routes five voices to five separate instruments in AUM.

Worth knowing

It needs something upstream to play it, whether a keyboard or a chord app. With only 20 stock scales, unusual tunings mean building them yourself.
