GeoShred Studio

What it does

A macOS AUv3 plugin version of GeoShred, the physically modelled expressive instrument built with Jordan Rudess. The download is free and an Essentials pack unlocks the engine, the guitar and pluck models, the presets and the modelled effects. GeoSwam and Naada instruments are sold inside the app, individually or as collections, and cost considerably more on the Mac than their iOS equivalents. It can be played with a mouse, a MIDI or MPE keyboard, a wind controller, or a wired iPhone or iPad running GeoShred, GeoShred Play or the free GeoShred Control.

In the demo

Jade installs it, enables automation, and connects an iPad over USB through Audio MIDI Setup so GeoShred Play drives the Mac plugin. She records a flute part into Logic, switches presets and moves controls on the iPad while the Mac follows, and works out that iCloud preset sync travels one direction at a time.

Worth knowing

This is a Mac purchase, and in-app purchases bought on iOS do not transfer to it. Playing it with a mouse gets none of the expression, so it wants a touch surface or a controller.
