What it does
A physically modelled instrument played on a multi-touch fretboard, built with Jordan Rudess, with pitch rounding, scale highlighting, MPE, MIDI in and out, and AUv3. A strumming strip and chord slots work across all the instruments, not just the guitars. More instruments are sold inside the app: the GeoSWAM collections hold SWAM wind and string models rebuilt for the fretboard, Collection III covering saxophones and brass and Collection IV world flutes, while the Naada packs cover world and orchestral models such as bansuri, sarangi, erhu, oud, ney and harmonica. GeoShred Play is the cheaper entry version, and the free GeoShred Control sends MIDI and makes no sound.
In the demo
Jade plays the Naada instruments with drones and expression controls, edits custom chords into the strum column, changes the scale and root note, then loads it as a MIDI controller in AUM and Logic.
Worth knowing
The packs are bought separately and add up quickly, and the GeoSWAM ones play only inside GeoShred. A later update replaced the instrument drop-down with a picker wheel browser and added piano, UKB and Jenko layouts beside the fretboard. GeoJam backing tracks open only in the standalone app.
