What it does
A virtual string machine carried over from the GSi Gemini, inspired by the string keyboards of the seventies rather than modelled on one named unit. Four sliders mix bass, cello, viola and violin, all polyphonic, over a shared envelope of attack, release and a break point between them. Vibrato and chorus are switches with nothing to set, the phaser has speed and depth, and a brilliance slider lifts the top end.
In the demo
Jade clears her opening piece, mutes everything and brings each register back on its own, so the raw tone is audible before the chorus arrives. She then drives three instances from Progressions on different parts of a generated chord sequence.
Worth knowing
There is little to program here, no filter and no resonance, and two of the effects are on or off only. Jade uses the registers as layers, stacking instances and adding reverb rather than playing one alone.
