DynaSynth

What it does

An eight-voice polyphonic synth that runs standalone and as an AUv3 on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each voice carries two variable-shape oscillators that sweep from saw through triangle into pulse width, with detune, a stereo spread that pushes the two shapes in opposite directions, and polyphonic glide. The distinguishing part is the dynamics stage: an envelope follower reads the synth’s own output and feeds it back into the parameters, so the patch keeps shifting as you play, with a live display showing the movement. A filter, vibrato, LFO, ADSR and a delay of up to two seconds finish it.

In the demo

Jade runs it in Scaler 3 and AUM, including a pass driven by Bounce Budd throwing random in-key notes at it, then rebuilds a patch from default, control by control, and plays through the presets.

Worth knowing

Rob Jackson has an earlier app called DynaSinth spelled with an i, which uses sine oscillators, so check the spelling before buying. LFO destinations only engage once you nudge the control. The character runs to spacey and unstable rather than to clean, tuned leads.
