What it does
A drone instrument built from three identical tone blocks plus an ambient recordings block. Each tone block picks a waveform, from sines through to electric steel and nylon guitar, and has its own cutoff, release, reverb, panning and tempo-synced modulation. Notes hold as a sustained drone with extra intervals stacked in, or play from a keyboard, and the ambient block adds river, rain and highway underneath.
In the demo
Jade starts in the standalone version, setting a root note and scale for the onscreen keyboard, then walks each block’s waveforms and layers the field recordings in. Loaded as an AUv3 in AUM the keyboard disappears, one block shows at a time, and she drives it from Zoa.
Worth knowing
iPad only, and your own samples cannot be imported, so the ambient sounds are the ones supplied. A plainer DroneLab is a separate $1.99 download, standalone only and with less in it. Anything that needs to move rather than hang will want a different app.
