What it does

A channel strip drawn from two pieces of 1950s test equipment in Hainbach’s studio, a German measurement preamp and a sweepable Allison Labs filter. It runs as three blocks, a preamp with gain and oversampling, a compressor with an envelope and bypass, and a high pass and low pass pair with multipliers and Q. An LFO with a long waveform list can be assigned across those controls, and the block order itself can be rearranged, with mix, soft clip and output at the end.

In the demo

Jade opens with a track built entirely from a sine wave and pink noise run through many instances. She then works a synth chord through each block, animates the filters from the internal LFO and an external one, and pulls the mix back to stack instances. She finishes on a live microphone.

Worth knowing

It stays light enough to load many times over in one project. The filters and LFO point at sound design as much as mixing, so anyone wanting a transparent strip will be working against its character.
