Compact DeLuxe

What it does

A component modelled emulation of the Farfisa Compact DeLuxe, the transistor combo organ of the European beat scene. Voices come in by tab: bass, strings, flute, oboe, trumpet, an upper flute and strings, and a two thirds tab for octaves, with every tab off giving silence. A multi-boost section opens a second set of tones under the knee lever, and a percussion tab with long and short settings puts attack on each note. Vibrato, leakage, key click, delay and reverb sit alongside.

In the demo

Jade brings the voices in one at a time so each is audible alone, then works the knee lever against the multi-boost, switches percussion in and out, and drives it from Scalar over a funk and soul progression.

Worth knowing

The knee lever is on screen but does not do what the original’s did. Genuine Soundware also sells it bundled with Red Animal, and desktop versions for Mac and Windows.
