Chromosonic

What it does

A synth with a built-in generative sequencer, drawn as a double helix. Notes sit on the curves and seven rungs between them hold the genes: timbre, brightness, resonance, attack, release, echo and space. Each gene has its own LFO or sample and hold, a side panel sets scale, density, variation, octave and step count, and Genesis builds a patch from a plain-language description.

In the demo

Jade runs it as an AUv3 instrument in AUM, turning steps on and off, dragging pitches, and letting the generator rebuild the sequence at a slow tempo. She types a request for a dark evolving piano drone, modulates the brightness rung to host-synced subdivisions, and layers it under Chord Pond and Pro A5.

Worth knowing

At demo time it ran on iPad only, with a Mac version described as coming, and could not send MIDI to other instruments; a version 1.1 note in the description adds loading as a MIDI effect. Jade also hits a tempo dial that would not settle on 20.
