Chord Generator

What it does

A MIDI chord instrument. A grid of pads each holds a chord with its own root note, chord type, inversion, velocity range, strum shape and repeater, mapped to a key of the keyboard. A keyboard mode instead slides one chord shape along the keys. Nearly every parameter carries a dice for randomising, a lock to hold it and a shuffle switch that rerolls it on each press, so one pad can answer differently every time it is hit. Scales sit underneath, custom ones included, and MIDI capture records the output for export.

In the demo

Jade starts from a patch she saves as an init, works through inversions, velocity bands, strum shaping and the repeater on a single chord, then turns the shuffle switches on together so one repeated key press keeps changing. She opens with a project driving Harmony Bloom, SoundBox and Pianoteq from two instances in AUM.

Worth knowing

It makes no sound as an AUv3 and needs a MIDI destination; the standalone has a basic instrument built in. iPad and M1 Macs only, with a separate desktop version sold on the developer’s site.
