Cality

What it does

Cality is an AUv3 MIDI processor that adds notes to the ones you play. The cloud section sets how many extra notes arrive, their range, resolution, length, attack and release, and whether they land at random or snap to a scale. A second block transposes pitch and chooses scale and root; a tempo block handles swing, accents and a probability gate that thins the output. Pushed far enough it becomes the wall of sound of black MIDI.

In the demo

Jade wires it up in AUM, keyboard into Cality and Cality’s MIDI out into a sampler, then holds single keys while raising the note count and resolution. She chains Polybud into Cality into a synth so the rig generates itself, and runs the same arrangement into DigiStix for drums.

Worth knowing

GarageBand will not host an AUv3 MIDI plugin, so this needs AUM, Cubasis or similar. Anyone after tidy arpeggios will find it pulls toward density and chaos instead.
