BrainBud

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI utility that holds one key and scale and broadcasts them to Cem Olcay’s other Bud apps, so SnakeBud, MelodyBud, ShiftBud, PolyBud, Textquencer, ScaleBud 2 and In Theory all move together. Its own screen is a key selector, a long scale list and a randomise button, over a bank of pattern slots that each store a key and scale pair. Patterns advance on MIDI CC10, and a Budcast button pushes the current key out to anything newly connected.

In the demo

Jade opens a saved project where PatternBud drives BrainBud and the Buds follow, clears it, then rebuilds in AUM, wiring the MIDI out to SnakeBud and Textquencer and changing key while both play. She randomises six pattern slots and hands the switching back to PatternBud.

Worth knowing

It sends key and scale only, to Bud apps only, so it does nothing on its own and needs several of them around it. Not every Bud responds, and Jade works out which ones do on camera.
