BounceBud

What it does

A generative MIDI sequencer built on bouncing balls. Keyboards line the top, bottom, left and right edges of the playfield, and a ball sounds a note when it hits a key. Each side sends on its own MIDI channel with its own note length, octave range and velocity range, so four instruments can be driven at once. Knobs set ball count, speed and size, and a settings page picks key and scale, strips notes out of that scale, and toggles ball to ball collision.

In the demo

Jade builds a session in AUM from scratch, routing the four sides to piano, bass, bells and a drone. She resizes the playfield to change how often the balls land, plays an Arturia keyboard to fire bats at them, then chains BrainBud and SnakeBud in so the bats fire themselves and every app shares one key and scale.

Worth knowing

The iOS purchase covers the Mac build, and patterns switch over CC10. It sends MIDI only, so it needs a host and instruments around it, and in Logic the window resizes only through a side panel.
