Atom | Piano Roll 2

What it does

A MIDI piano roll that runs as an AUv3 plugin. Notes go in with a finger or a pencil, or get recorded live from a keyboard over a loop with a metronome and quantize on input. A move panel transposes a selection by octaves, fifths or semitones and shifts it along bars or the grid. A process panel holds flip, quantization down to triplets, quintuplets and septuplets with a strength slider, swing, a long scale list with a dominant influence slider, and velocity randomization, each of them kept non-destructive or baked in.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM driving Ravenscroft piano, records a few passes of chords, then works the move and process panels while the loop keeps playing. She duplicates the channel and uses the layers panel to see the second instance as a ghost pattern behind the first.

Worth knowing

She calls this a basic look and leaves clip launching and step recording for a later episode. The store listing names AUM, apeMatrix, Audiobus, BeatMaker, Cubasis and Drambo as tested hosts, and says GarageBand is not supported.
