What it does
An eight voice virtual analog synth whose oscillators are rendered as grains. It borrows granular terminology without loading any samples, so nothing can be imported into it. Grain waveform, length and shape are the main controls: short grains give a stuttering tail that sounds like a delay, longer ones settle into a sustained tone. Noise goes either to the amp envelope or into the grains, spread narrows the random pan each grain is given, and shift adds an octave up, an octave down or random alternate grains, with a filter, contour, envelope, drive and reverb after it.
In the demo
Jade opens with three instances fed by Way Maker and Fugue Machine Rubato, then strips back to one and moves through the grain controls so the delay effect turns out to be grain length. She holds notes while changing parameters to show no clicks or pops.
Worth knowing
It is a 10 MB download because nothing is sampled. Host tempo sync was not in the version demoed.
